NAD+

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide · Coenzyme I · NAD
Evidence C · Mostly animal evidenceNot approved for human use
In one line. A natural energy molecule; injected doses are popular but only lightly studied in people.

What it is

NAD+ is a helper molecule found in every cell. Cells use it to make energy and repair DNA. Levels drop as we age.

What is actually known

Animal studies link low NAD+ to ageing. In people, injected NAD+ has only small pilot studies. It can sting and cause flushing if injected fast.

Under the skin or into the muscle only on this page; IV infusions belong in a clinic. Public references give 50 to 100 mg per injection, 1 to 3 times a week, rising slowly, with about 300 mg a week as an upper limit. Inject slowly: it can sting and cause flushing. Older profiles listing 250 to 1000 mg doses were IV or clinic amounts and were not carried.

Mixing and drawing up

Pick your vial size. Water is chosen so every step reads between 2 and 100 units on a U-100 insulin syringe. Every number below is calculated, not typed.

Do not use if

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding (no data)
  • Active cancer: some cancers use NAD+ for growth; ask a doctor
  • Known allergy to NAD+

Watch for

  • Stinging, burning or redness where it is injected
  • Flushing, chest tightness, nausea or a heavy feeling if given too fast
  • Tiredness or headache after a dose

Stop and get medical help if

  • Chest pain or trouble breathing
  • Signs of a severe allergic reaction
  • An injection site that becomes hot, swollen, or has pus

Interactions

  • Other injectables on the same day: space them out and tell your doctor

A good vial

  • White to slightly off-white dry powder
  • Clear, colourless to pale yellow solution after swirling

Do not use the vial if

  • Brown colour
  • Cloudy or particles after mixing
  • Clumped, wet-looking powder

Evidence

NAD+ is a natural coenzyme in every cell, and its levels fall with age in animals and people. Injected NAD+ has only small pilot human studies; most support for using it comes from animal research and from studies of oral precursors (NMN, NR).
