BPC-157

Body Protection Compound-157 · PL 14736 · Bepecin
Evidence C · Mostly animal evidenceNot approved for human use
In one line. Promising in animal healing studies, but not yet tested in people at the doses sold.

What it is

BPC-157 is a short peptide, a small chain of amino acids. It was first found in human stomach juice. People use it for tendon, joint and muscle injuries, and for the gut.

What is actually known

Almost all research is in rats or in the lab. Human trials are registered, but no results are out yet. The doses sold to people have not been tested in a human trial.

Maintenance250 mcgOnce a day
Tendon or joint injury500 mcgOnce or twice a day
Serious injury1 mgTwice a day

Market ranges are 250 to 500 mcg for joints and general healing, and 500 to 1000 mcg for serious injury, for 4 to 12 weeks. No human trial has tested these doses. A dose scaled from the animal studies would be much lower.

Do not use if

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding (no data)
  • Active or past cancer: it promotes new blood vessel growth, a theoretical risk
  • Known allergy to the peptide
  • Competitive athletes tested under WADA rules

Watch for

  • Redness or irritation where it is injected
  • Blood thinners: ask a doctor first, because of its effect on blood vessels
  • Product quality: research vials are not made to medicine standards, so purity and true dose vary

Stop and get medical help if

  • Signs of a severe allergic reaction
  • An injection site that becomes hot, swollen, or has pus

Interactions

  • Anticoagulants and antiplatelet medicines: not studied; have a clinician review first

A good vial

  • White, fluffy dry cake
  • Clear solution after gentle swirling

Do not use the vial if

  • Collapsed, melted or stuck to the glass (heat exposure)
  • Cloudy or particles after mixing

Evidence

Most research is in rats and cell cultures, from a small number of research groups. Human trials are registered but no results are published.
